Michael M. O’Brien is a former political appointee in the George W. Bush administration, serving in the U.S. Department of State and the Office of Homeland Security in the White House. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He served as an Infantry officer, was Airborne and Ranger qualified, and left the service as a Captain. After leaving the Army Michael O’Brien was a commercial helicopter pilot in New York City, but left to pursue a career in commercial real estate. He was the Senior Advisor to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense in Baghdad, Iraq, from July 2006 to September 2007, advising the Ministry on matters relating to its real estate, facilities, bases, and construction after the Iraqi Army was disbanded by the Coalition Provisional Authority. He lives in Arlington, Virginia.
